VW Caddy 2K Project

Before we start with my ownership of the van, this is a photo that I found on Google of my van before I bought it that the previous owner had uploaded to the VW Caddy 2K Owners Club.

This was the day I bought the van back in June of 2013, after the drive back from picking it up. These graphics were from the company who I bought it from.

A photo after it’s first wash and graphics removal.

It was a very clean van, inside and out.

Soon after buying the van, I set about giving the paintwork a full decontamination and a three-stage machine polish.

There wasn’t a single blemish in the paintwork. Looking back at these photos now, I can’t believe how good conditioned the van was. I wish it was still like that now.

After a few months of ownership, I took the van to Northern Scotland for a 2-week mountain biking break. This photo was taken in the valley of where some of James Bond ‘Skyfall’ film was shot. You may also notice that the wheels have now changed colour.

I had the business sign writing done by a local company and here’s how it looked back then.

Fast forward a few years and I changed the wheels to the ultra-blue 3SDM 0.5s that are still on it now.

I gave the engine bay a much needed clean with great results!

I took a trip over to Darkside Developments in Barnsley recently to have a cat back twin exhaust system fitted, induction kit, oil and filter change, plus a live mapping session. (It’s been a while since I’ve done anything to the Caddy.)

Rolling road graph from Darkside Developments indicates a peak of 152.8 bhp and 260 lbft. The van pulls much harder and smoother now. Also, it’s not over fuelling so I should get a better MPG.

I had a Vibe Audio under seat enclosed 900 Watt subwoofer and amplifier combo fitted by Black ICE Audio who are based in the West Midlands a few months back. Also, the door card speakers and tweeters were upgraded at the same time to Vibe Audio components.

Here’s the most recent photo of the van. Other plans include a full Nardo grey respray, front splitter, carbon fibre effect roof wrap, new passenger side front wing, respray the VW badges satin black, new sign writing and that’s pretty much about it.
